Vantech Van Ladder Racks

On a van the rack is decided by the roof, not by the load. Most modern cargo vans, Transit, ProMaster, Sprinter, Express and Savana, have factory fixed points, threaded holes under the roof skin that a rack bolts straight into. Older and imported vans use rain gutters, the lip running along the roof edge. Some vans carry factory tracks, a channel the feet slide into. Get the mount right and the rack is bolted to structure; get it wrong and you are drilling a roof you did not want to drill.

From there it is height and handling. Drop-down racks swing a ladder to the side of the van so one person can load at waist height, which is worth it if you are up and down all day; fixed racks cost less and carry more.
