The Thule 9024xt Apex XT 2 bike rack is a premium hanging trailer hitch mounted bicycle rack with a sleek and stylish design that incorporates convenience, safety and security. Thule's Apex XT has the ability to easily adapt to a 1.25" or 2" hitch (right out of the box) depending on your vehicle's hitch size. The 9024xt Apex XT has a convenient tool-free SnugTite Locking Stinger mounting system making installing or removing your bike rack quick and easy by simply loosening or tightening the hitch knob. To install the rack, simply push the bike rack into your trailer hitch receiver until the integrated auto-hitch-pin snaps into place or engages with your hitch. The tightening knob will activate the anti-rattle mechanism to help eliminate vertical and horizontal movement for a secure and stable fit. The 9024xt Apex XT has a compact cradle design which accommodates a wide variety of bike sizes and frame styles. If you have a odd shaped bike frame or traditional women's bike you may want to consider Thule's 982xt bike frame adapter (sold separately - see below). Thule's compact cradles use a ratcheting style cradle strap - making loading and unloading your bikes quick and easy. The bike cradles are spaced 7" apart providing a greater distance between bikes for a safe and secure fit. Bike cradles also include Anti-Sway fasteners which help provide extra stability, protection and prevent bike-to-bike contact. The Apex XT includes a quick release Hitch Switch which enables you to fold the bike arms down when not in use. It also allows you to access the rear of your vehicle by tilting the rack away from the vehicle. The Hitch Switch mechanism has an audible click to assure you that the arms and mast are securely locked in position. For bicycle security, the Apex XT includes a built-in cable lock that pulls out of the mast and locks into the end of one bike arm. A locking knob on the hitch connection locks the bike rack to your vehicle.
